The saving
On real service telemetry, ZJX compact wrote an archive 38.1% smaller than the best of 14 compressor settings (zpaq -m5). At $0.023 per GB-month, that is about $105,100 a year for every petabyte of those archives you retain.
Built for retention
- Exact restores
- Every payload and archive carries a digest. A restore checks the whole archive before it publishes a single file.
- Offline for good
- The package holds everything a restore needs. No network, account, or license server.
- Readable later
- Current readers restore plaintext archives from every release since 1.23, and encrypted archives since 1.27.
- Predictable cost
- Memory, temporary-disk, and entry-count ceilings are enforced before work starts. Ultrafast peaks at about 71 MB at four workers.
- Pipeline ready
- JSON results, a progress stream, and clean cancellation.
- Protected
- Password-protected archives encrypt names and metadata along with contents.
Your data first
Before you commit, we measure ZJX on a representative slice of your own retention lane.
- Sample. A slice of the data you keep, sanitized if needed, plus your current compressor and settings.
- Run. Compact, fast, and ultrafast against your method and the published comparator set, in your environment or ours.
- Report. Archive bytes, creation and verification time, restore evidence, and resource cost.
Evaluations are scoped, paid engagements. Data handling is agreed in writing before any file moves. How evaluations work
Licensing
ZJX is free for noncommercial use under PolyForm Noncommercial 1.0.0. Business use needs a written commercial license, which also sets support, the compatibility window, and decoder retention. Desktop editions and pricing for individuals are at ZJX.app.
